The number of devices linked to the Internet set to explode annually. Since the beginning of the Internet connectivity has existed, which means that IoT is certainly not a new phenomenon. Basically, companies can customize their processes, deliver personalized user experience and identify new opportunities to drive a competitive business edge by tapping into rich data sets and gleaning significant insights. Edge computing applies to all devices, which collect data outside a large data centre. Devices traditionally do not have the calculation level or storage capabilities to retain and analyse data and have been sent to the cloud for examination. These devices are now, however, more often produced with integrated functionality so that they can apply machine learning and analytics to obtain useful insights from data.
